Concordia Childrens Services is a community based child welfare service, located in central Manila, The Philippines. They help orphans and assist children who are from very poor families and provide them with education, spiritual hope and nourishment.
Concordia Children’s Services, Inc. was founded in 1983, in partnership with another child caring agency for abandoned and neglected children.
In 1989, they expanded to serve the street and urban poor children in Pasig City. By 1996, they again expanded to serve the needs of street and urban poor children in the Santa Mesa area, which is in the center of Manila.
In 2013, they also serve the babies and street children by renovating the Sta. Mesa location, and adding space for the orphans and street children to have more resources. More social workers were also added.
Currently there are 16 children under the care Concordia; some are abandoned/neglected, temporary shelter and surrendered permanently. Ages ranges from 2 months to 3 years old. Concordia coordinates with DSWD for the adoption process of the children.
There are 7 stay-in social workers taking care of the children. Aside from them, there are some Interns and volunteers helping out.
Concordia is just renting out the place and they are relying on the donations that they receive. They just work on what they receive to be able to feed, cloth and care for the children and also the social workers.
This program caters to the street and urban poor children ages 7 to 16 years old. Social workers visits barangays and ask for referrals, and sometimes teachers refers their students whom they think needs assistance.
