Once again, The Little Swallow (TLSI) went back to the National Children’s Hospital (NCH) on November 3, 2015. TLSI went there not to extend financial support to patients as what TLSI did in the past. This time, we went there to support a free art/painting session for the children and their parents as conducted by the Great Maestro Fernando Sena.
It’s not the first for TLSI to support an art workshop for pediatric patients—but it’s our first time to have this in NCH. Prior to NCH, we had the same activity at Philippine Heart Center and also at Bahay Aruga more recently. This is where we discover that most of these children have hidden talents. It is also nice to see how art or painting sessions like this can be very therapeutic for the young patients suffering from terminal illnesses such as CA as well as for their parents who are there to assist them.
Seeing the smiles on these children’s faces… Looking at the beauty & colors they painted on those canvases and for a while forgetting their pain… Watching them enjoy the snacks & drinks we brought for them… Priceless…
Many thanks to National Children’s Hospital, Maestro Fernando Sena, and to all the very beautiful doctors (inside out!): Dr. Chin, Dr. Bing Bing, & others for making this activity possible. It did bring the children and their parents some cheers—just as it also brought us, TLSI volunteers, some sense of fulfillment, hope, & a greater sense of purpose in life.
