Sr. Flor Abastillas, the overall in-charge, warmly welcomed the HanCole team, as they carry the gift packs and food for the lolas and kids. Lunch was served and life stories were shared as the team cheerfully assisted Sr. Flor in feeding the lolas. It was so heartwarming to see them appreciate the attention and the care being accorded to them that hour.
A small program took place immediately after lunch. The lolas sang their favorite songs, did some dancing while others did some funny antics. Everyone enjoyed the few hours of merrying.
Gift bags with kikay items were then distributed. There was a mixed emotion of joy and sadness as the team witnessed how the lolas reacted when each one opened her gift bag. Some meticulously checked items inside the bag while others readily tried on the accessories, applied the powder and lipstick. Some Lola’s just peeped in the bag then resealed it. They would rather reserve it as gift for their families when they go back home.
Sr. Flor was very thankful for the cash donation for their other needs. Mr. Marco Reyes mentioned that HanCole will be back to donate a new karaoke set with good sound system. The amiable nun said what they can offer in return are prayers for HanCole’s success, that the company may continue to become an instrument of rebuilding love where it is lost. The short duration of two hours spent with the elderly and the kids was a rewarding experience for the HanCole team. A kind of happiness no amount of money can buy.
